Massachusetts wife shot and killed by estranged husband, who then shoots himself

An estranged husband drove to the home he once shared with his wife Saturday morning and shot her death, then turned the gun on himself, WBZ reports.

Joshua Pereira, 31, had recently moved out of the couple’s Somerset home, investigators said, but he drove back to the house Saturday morning before 8 a.m.

A relative called police at 8:05 a.m. and said she’d found the bodies of Amber Pereira, 30, and her husband.

Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots from inside the home after his arrival, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said, and a gun was found beneath Joshua Pereira’s body.

The DA’s office said investigators don’t believe anyone else was in the house at the time. WCVB reported that someone came to the house later Saturday to pick up the couple’s dog but had no comment.

The state medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy.
