*This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information becomes available.*

One of several suspects wanted in connection with a criminal investigation has taken his own life, according to officials.

The incident happened overnight off of  East Rancier Avenue in Killeen, at around 1:30 a.m. In an interview with ‘Crime Stories with Nancy Grace,’ Guillen family attorney, Natalie Kwaham, said the suspect has been identified as Aaron Robinson. He reportedly ran off of the base on foot. Police attempted to make contact with him but he shot himself as the officers approached.

There is currently no confirmed link yet, but the incident happened hours after the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Unit announced they had found human remains while searching for 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier, Vanessa Guillen.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the remains were found in a shallow grave by the Leon River. Tim Miller, the founder of Texas Equusearch, said that during a previous search at the same area, his crew found items of evidence connected to Guillen.

Miller said the remains were found close to the items.
