A 23-month-old boy was beaten to death by a male relative Monday, Chicago Police said, according to WGN9.
The man allegedly punched the toddler in the face multiple times shortly after noon in the city’s southside Bronzeville neighborhood, according to preliminary information from the investigation.
Police said the man was taken into custody, and charges are pending, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The boy was pronounced dead at Comer Children’s Hospital.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy and will release more information at a later point.
