Mom, twin 10-month-old sons found dead in submerged car

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Georgia mother and her twin 10-month-old sons were found in a car submerged in a pond near the Augusta airport on Friday.

Authorities identified the victims as Shaquia Philpot, 25, and twins Caysen and Cassius Williams, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

The car was found shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday by a person who had come to Mayor’s Pond, just north of Augusta Regional Airport. Philpot and the children were pronounced dead at the scene.

The family lived in Hephzibah, Georgia, about 10 miles from the pond, Fox 54 said.

The sheriff’s office assisted the Richmond County Fire Department and discovered the bodies when the vehicles was removed from the water.

The bodies have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.
