Missing North Carolina man found dead; police are investigating

A North Carolina man who vanished from his home on the weekend was found dead on Monday.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Curtis Allan Wuellner, 50, was last seen at his home in Statesville on Friday evening. Family members initially assumed he had gone to their dock when he was missing from the home on Saturday morning, but became concerned later in the day and contacted police to report him missing. Authorities immediately launched a search of the area, including Lake Norman in Laurel Cove.

WBTV reports that Iredell County Sheriff discovered Wuellner’s body on Monday afternoon, in a dense wooded area about a mile from his home.

Authorities have not yet commented on the condition of the body when it was found, and a cause of death is pending an autopsy report.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate Wuellner’s death. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
