Missouri Mystery: Police search for clues after young couple shot dead on their front porch

Police in Missouri are seeking leads in the apparent homicides of a man and a woman who were found shot to death on their front porch.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, police discovered the bodies of Alex Chute, 28, and Brianna Sproul, 30, on their front porch in Willard on Saturday morning. Willard Police Chief Tom McClain told the news outlet that investigators have determined that both Chute and Sproul were homicide victims, and their deaths were not a murder-suicide.

Police have yet to identify any suspects in the case, but the police chief reportedly said that detectives are making progress in the investigation.

The chief declined to comment on a possible motive Monday, according to the report.

Facebook profiles and social media posts indicate the couple had a young child.

A family friend has launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

Anyone with possible information is urged to contact the Willard Police Department at 417-742-5341.

CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
