Two men were hospitalized in critical condition Saturday when a dating website hookup in Detroit turned into an attempted robbery, WDIV reports.

Police said a 57-year-old man met a woman on the website and arranged to meet her at her westside apartment. When he arrived, however, the woman and her 18-year-old boyfriend were waiting.

The boyfriend was armed and tried to rob the man, who was also armed and took out his own weapon.

The two exchanged gunfire, and both were struck multiple times.

WDIV said the older man had a concealed carry permit for his gun.

Both weapons were recovered, and the investigation is ongoing. No other details were available.
