Michigan man is dead after ex-girlfriend fights back when he and 3 others break into her house

A Michigan man is dead and three of his friends are in jail after they broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home early Sunday morning and attacked her and her boyfriend, WNEM reports.

Burton police said Johnathan Skaggs, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

“It’s a devastating thing to happen. He had one thing on his mind. They broke in the house and they, what they did, he paid the price for it,” Burton Police Chief Brian Ross told WNEM.

Ross said the four stabbed and hit at the woman and her boyfriend, while a child she and Skaggs had together was in the house.

“The homeowners were able to defend themselves, and Johnathon was stabbed multiple times in the chest area,” Ross said.

The four attackers tried to flee, but Skaggs collapsed and died. The other three jumped into their vehicle and left the scene, but police were able to identify them and later took them into custody. All three have booked into the Genesee County Jail, awaiting formal charges.

The names of the victims and the other suspects have not been released.
