Florida victim kidnapped, raped, left by side of the road

Deputies in north Florida are investigating a reported kidnapping and rape that took place on Tuesday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says.

The sheriff’s office said the victim reported being forced into a vehicle by an unknown suspect between 8 am and 9 am Tuesday on Baseline Road in Ocala.

She said she was rendered unconscious and driven to an unknown location. While she was unconscious, the suspect raped the victim and left her beside State Highway 314 a few miles away.

“At that time of day, somebody saw something,” said Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods. “We need your help to seek justice for the victim and get this violent criminal off of our streets.”

The sheriff’s office asked that anyone who saw anything — “even if you just saw a vehicle driving erratically on Baseline Road” — to call 352-732-9111 or contact Detective Burleson at 352-368-3542. Additionally, if you would like to remain anonymous then call Marion County Crime Stoppers at 352-368-STOP (7867) and reference tip 21-18.
