Teen mom cries, admits starving her infant girl 6 days while she left town to PARTY

On Friday, a British woman confessed in court to causing the 2019 death of her 20-month-old daughter by leaving the child home alone for six days.

Verphy Kudi, 19, pleaded guilty in Lewes Crown Court to manslaughter. The BBC reported that when Kudi was 18 years old, her daughter, Asiah Kudi, died of neglect at a Brighton home before she was transported to the hospital.

Verphy Kudi reportedly left Asiah Kudi alone for six days while she celebrated her 18th birthday in London, Coventry, and Solihul. The Daily Mail reported that the toddler had no food or water in that time period.

While child protective services was not involved with the family, the news outlet reported that the apartment where the other and daughter lived was run by a charity who helps vulnerable families. The organization reportedly said the units are not regularly inspected, though staff is present at the entrance of the complex at all times.

According to the Daily Mail, CCTV showed Verphy Kudi leaving the apartment before she travelled approximately 150 miles away to party. Upon returning home, Verphy Kudi called for help and said her daughter would not wake up. The toddler was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Staff at the housing complex contacted police after reviewing CCTV footage that suggested Verphy Kudi had left Asiah Kudi alone for several days before her death. A post-mortem exam confirmed the toddler girl was starved, dehydrated, and had the flu.

Verphy Kudi’s sentencing is scheduled for May 28, but the hearing may be delayed for undisclosed reasons.
