Mom shot dead during botched carjacking attempt, cops say

A Florida woman was fatally shot on Saturday in what authorities believe was a botched armed carjacking.

According to WESH, Roxana Sanchez, 36, had returned to Orange County home with another person following a night of shopping. Police said Sanchez and the friend were in Sanchez’s driveway when two men exited an unidentified car and approached their vehicle.

The men reportedly surrounded both sides of the vehicle and banged on the car while demanding Sanchez and her friend to get out.

Police said Sanchez’s friend, who was the driver, panicked and reversed the car and struck the suspects’ vehicle. It was then when the suspect standing on the passenger side opened fire, mortally wounding Sanchez.

Surveillance footage apparently shows the suspects’ car following the victims in the subdivision before the fatal shooting.

According to WKMG, Sanchez’s friend did not see the suspects’ faces, only their arms.

No arrests have been made in connection with Saturday’s deadly shooting. Authorities are seeking additional footage from businesses in the vicinity where Sanchez and her friend visited that night.
