Update: 13-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Murders Navy Vet Mom Weeks Before Her Wedding Day

Two weeks before her wedding day, a Georgia woman’s 13-year-old son allegedly opened fire and shot her dead, according to reports.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Dominique Bowers, 37, was found deceased in her Warner Robins home on August 13, the Warner Robins Police Department said. While police officers were en route to the residence, dispatchers reported they were on the phone with a possible suspect who called in to report the shooting.

Officers found the suspect the same day, on Old Perry Road, less than a mile away from his home. Investigators have not given the suspect’s name but confirmed he was one of Bowers’ sons from a previous relationship.

Warner Robins police said the teen made his first appearance in court Saturday morning and has been charged with murder and aggravated assault. The motive remains unclear.

DailyMail reports that Bowers and her fiancé, Nikolaos Zaharopoulos, were scheduled to wed on August 27, per an online wedding registry. The couple reportedly got engaged in 2019.

According to her Facebook page, Bowers was a U.S. Navy veteran originally from New York. She studied psychology at Roanoke College in Virginia and previously worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The suspect is currently being held at the Crisp County Youth Detention Center in Cordelle. Check back for updates.
