Gabby Petito crying in police car

Gabby Petito’s Dad Wants Brian Laundrie ‘In a Jail Cell for the Rest of His Life’

Gabby Petito’s father said he didn’t listen to the entire 911 call when a witness reported Petito and Brian Laundrie apparently fighting over a phone and “the gentleman was slapping the girl.”

“I can’t do it,” Joe Petito told Phil McGraw on his syndicated television show on Wednesday, according to Fox News. “I just can’t do it.”

Joe Petito and Gabby’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, appeared on the show along with Petito’s stepparents, Jim Schmidt and Tara Petito, a day after McGraw spoke at length with their attorney, Richard Stafford.

The police officers who responded to that 911 call decided that Gabby Petito was the primary aggressor and worked to put Laundrie up in a hotel room for the night, leaving Petito with the van — all so they wouldn’t have to arrest her.

Two weeks later, Gabby disappeared and Laundrie returned home to Florida without her and without speaking with her parents. Then he took off from his parents house just days before she was found murdered at a remote Wyoming campsite. He’s still not been found, and the FBI has launched a manhunt for him after a grand jury charged him with bank fraud for using Petito’s bank cards after she disappearaed.

Gabby’s parents also told McGraw they hope Laundrie is found alive.

“I want to see him in a jail cell for the rest of his life,” Joe Petito said.
