18-Year-Old Fatally Shoots His Mother at Dinner Table

An 18-year-old New York man has been jailed on murder charges after he allegedly shot his mother during a dinner time argument at the family’s Staten Island home.

Minire Pelinkovic, 51, was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, the New York Police Department said, according to WNBC.

She had a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead at the hospital later in the evening.

Adnan Pelinkovic faces charges of murder and attempted murder along with two counts each of assault, criminal possession of a loaded weapon, and menacing, the New York Post said.

His 54–year-old father, who was not named, was also injured, police said. He had a laceration on his chest and refused medical treatment.

Police sources told WNBC that the shooting happened when an argument broke out while the family was having dinner. The 18-year-old reportedly grabbed his father’s gun and shot his mother. The father legally owned the 9mm Sig Sauer weapon the young man used, according to the Post.
