Mother and Daughter Found Shot to Death in Detroit Home on Christmas; Police Search for Husband

A 57-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter, who has disabilities, were found shot to death at their home at about 4 p.m. on Christmas Day.

The Detroit Police Department said they are searching for the woman’s husband, 62-year-old Dwayne McDonald, but don’t know if he is a victim or a suspect in the case.

Detroit Police Sgt. William O’Brien told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday that investigators believe the shooting took place at about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Detroit Police Chief James White said the victims’ family had been scheduled to have Christmas dinner at the home but did not hear from them all day, according to WJBK. When they arrived, he said, they peered through a bedroom window and saw the mother on the floor.

Police said McDonald drives a gray Buick Lucerne with Michigan license plate EKY 4074.

Police did not provide the names of the victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
