Bodybuilder Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charges in Shooting of His Parents

Personal trainer Dino Tomassetti was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of attempted murder in the shooting of his parents on Christmas morning at their Long Island mansion.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the 29-year-old Brooklyn bodybuilder got into an argument with Rocco and Vincenza Tomassetti over his 1-year-old son, ending when he shot his father in the back and his mother in the head.

The elder Tomassettis were released from the hospital earlier this week, WCBS reported.

Dino Tomassetti was extradited from Bergen County, New Jersey, Wednesday morning and and immediately arrested by Nassau County police, who brought into court in handcuffs later in the day, WNBC said.

“It had to do with custody and taking the child Christmas morning. The man wanted to take his 1-year-old away from his parents and the natural mother, which he did not have custody to. That’s when the argument started,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said.

The younger Tomassetti also pistol whipped his father when he ran out of bullets.

The infant boy was in the room where the shootings took place, and the child’s mother was also in the home. The boy is now safely in the custody of his mother, and a judge issued orders of protection for the parents, the child, and his mother.

Tomassetti is due back in court on January 5.
