NFL Running Back Adrian Peterson Thrown Off Flight, Arrested After ‘Altercation’ With Wife

Free agent NFL running back Adrian Peterson was arrested on a domestic violence charge after he was removed from a plane Sunday morning at Los Angeles International Airport.

According to TMZ, Peterson and his wife, Ashley Brown, were aboard a plane attempting to take off for Houston, Texas, when Peterson and Brown got into a verbal and physical altercation. The plane returned to the gate, where it was met by airport police at about 8:30 a.m.

Brown appeared to have sustained a small mark from the altercation, TMZ said, and Peterson was taken into custody.

Once he was removed from the jet, the flight took off for Houston as planned, with Brown still on board.

A representative for Peterson later told TMZ that the former Minnesota Vikings star and his wife “had a verbal argument on a flight, and he was removed from the plane.”

“This is a private misunderstanding between husband and wife, and we anticipate it will all be resolved shortly,” the representative said.

Peterson and Brown had been in Los Angeles for a Super Bowl event sponsored Thursday night by DIRECTV.

Peterson pleaded no contest in 2014 to a charge of recklessly assaulting his 4-year-old son and avoided jail with a plea agreement that fined him $4,000, put him on probation, and ordered him to undergo 80 hours of community service.
