Troy Driver Shot and Killed 18-Year-Old Naomi Irion, Destroyed Her Cell Phone: Court Docs

An amended complaint filed Tuesday in a Nevada court says that Troy Driver shot Naomi Irion to death after he kidnapped her and then buried her body in the desert Churchill County grave where it was found weeks later.

The complaint further says that Driver destroyed Irion’s cell phone and even disposed of the tires on his truck “to conceal or destroy evidence of a felony and to protect or conceal his identity as the one responsible for the crimes.”

Irion, 18, was abducted from a Fernley, Nevada, Walmart parking lot early in the morning on March 12 while she waited for a shuttle to take her to work, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Surveillance video showed a man getting into the driver’s seat of her car and driving away with her still inside. The car was found three days later, abandoned in an industrial park less than a mile from the Walmart.

Driver, 51, was arrested and charged with kidnapping on March 25. Irion’s body was found on March 29, and on Friday, authorities added charges of murder, robbery, burglary, and destruction of evidence against Driver.

The amended complaint says that Driver shot and killed Irion “between March 12, 2022, and March 25, 2022” in a rural section of Churchill County and that he kidnapped her and took her to Churchill County “for the purpose of committing sexual assault and/or killing her.”

The robbery and burglary charges both relate to the theft of Irion’s car.

Two other documents, filed on Monday, postpone a pre-trial hearing scheduled for Tuesday until May 10 and a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 12 until May 10 as a status hearing.
