Day Care Worker Produced Child Porn With Kids in His Care, Cops Say

A New York daycare worker was arrested earlier this month for allegedly producing child porn with at least one child in his care.

On May 3, police arrested Silfredo Castillo Martinez, 32, at his home daycare in the Bronx. Investigators said Martinez has been making child porn since 2011, and they identified one of the victims in an illicit video as a child who attended his daycare, according to the New York Daily News.

The NYPD said the child Martinez allegedly victimized was 12 at the time, though they did not disclose when the reported assault transpired.

According to WABC, Martinez ran the afterschool program at Lina’s Daycare — which has been closed since his arrest earlier this month. An additional police investigation reportedly revealed that the 12-year-old victim was sexually abused at the center.

The Daily News reported that Martinez first received his home daycare license in October 2019. The center was licensed to have 12 children between the ages of six weeks to 12 years old in addition to four school-aged children.

Records stated that Martinez’s daycare license was suspended following his arrest.

Martinez, who is charged with producing and possessing child pornography, remains jailed on a $300,000 bond. Police are in the process of identifying additional victims.
