Mom Slashes Throat of Newborn Son, Keeps Secret Nearly 30 Years: Cops

A 53-year-old Oklahoma woman has been arrested for the murder of her newborn son nearly 30 years ago.

Baby Doe was found buried in a rural Choctaw County yard on December 8, 1993, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said. The medical examiner conducted an autopsy and determined the baby boy was born alive and died when his throat was slashed.

The case went cold as investigators conduced interviews but couldn’t locate a mother. In October 2020, a state agent worked with the Cold Case Unit and submitted the baby’s DNA to a lab for testing that couldn’t have been done in 1993.

Test results came back six months later, generating a number of leads, and earlier this month, new testing identified Meaonia Michelle Allen as Baby Doe’s mother. During an interview with investigators, she admitted she was the baby’s biological mother.

“The synergy between our agents and criminalists to solve cold cases, especially those with an unidentified victim, is to be applauded,” said Ricky Adams, OSBI Director. “Identifying the use of genetic genealogy as a tool and the work of Parabon and our internal genealogy specialist provided significant leads in this disturbing case. Baby Doe can now be properly laid to rest and his killer will be held accountable.”

State investigators said that Allen worked for a daycare center at the time and had not told anyone that she was pregnant. When she delivered the boy and killed him, she again told no one and kept the secret for almost 30 years.
