DEVELOPING: Houston Love Triangle Turns Into Deadly Kidnap & Murder

A man allegedly broke into his former girlfriend’s apartment in Texas, shot and killed the woman’s current boyfriend and then kidnapped her, KHOU-TV reports.

The victim was eventually able to escape several hours later and ran to a police station 15 minutes away from the apartment complex. Police are actively searching for the attacker. A description of the man has not been released, but authorities have recovered a vehicle believed to be connected to the crime.

Authorities did not disclose where the vehicle was found or whether any valuable evidence was found inside of it.

The incident occurred overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday while the victims were sleeping at the Richmond Manor Apartments near the Almeda neighborhood in Houston.

Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene around 8:25 a.m., according to a tweet from the Houston Police Department.

“Homicide detectives are en route to 2626 Holly Hall after a male was found with a gunshot wound about 8:25 a.m. Male deceased at the scene. No other info as the investigation is on going,” the tweet states.

The attacker and the woman reportedly have a child together, but the child was not inside the apartment at the time of the incident, according to ABC 13. The age of the child was not immediately available.

The male victim who was shot in the apartment was declared deceased at the scene, Click2Houston reports. Officials have not released any information about the identities of those involved in the case or what may have motivated the violence.

Aerial footage from Click2Houston shows a large police presence at the scene, including numerous police vehicles.
