Mom Arrested After Fatally Shooting Home Intruder While Protecting Her 2 Kids: Report

A Wisconsin woman allegedly shot and killed a man who broke into her home on Monday while she and her two children were there.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told WTMJ that she was showering before work when she overheard screams from her children, ages 12 and 14, in the living room. She reportedly emerged from the shower, grabbed her gun in the bedroom, and encountered a man who had broken into her home.

The woman allegedly shot the man multiple times after he charged in her direction despite being attacked by her two dogs. She told WTMJ that the man was possibly in his 30s and was acting erratically.

According to the news outlet, Milwaukee police arrested the woman following the shooting and released her several hours later. Cops reportedly questioned her and forwarded the case to prosecutors — who will decide if criminal charges are filed.

The woman told WTMJ that she purchased a gun a decade ago after finding a stranger sleeping under her son’s bed. She and her children — who are reportedly traumatized — plan to move following Monday’s ordeal.

“I knew I’d be able to do it [shoot the home intruder]. To protect my kids,” she commented.
