Boyfriend Kills 5 in Maryland Home, Including Ex-Girlfriend, Himself

A Maryland man came home from work Friday afternoon to the gruesome sight of his wife, daughter, son, and two other men shot dead in his home.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said Andres Sales, 28, is believed to have entered the home and killed his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Sara Mann; her 18-year-old brother Kai Mann; their 48-year-old mother Sommaly Mann; and another man, 23-year-old Javon Watson.

Sales then shot himself with a handgun that was found in the house, investigators said.

The sheriff’s office said that two young children were initially unaccounted for, but they were found safe at another location.

Neighbors told WJLA that police have responded to house several times, mostly for arguments between Sara Mann and Sales and the homeowner and Sales.

“It’s not something you would think of … you don’t think it’s going to happen anywhere,” La Plata Police Chief Carl Schinner told reporters Friday night.

Robin Mann, brother of homeowner Darin Mann, said his brother is a former doctor who now owns a painting business where son Kai worked alongside him, the Washington Post reported. Sara Mann worked in cosmetic surgery, he said. Darin and Sommaly Mann were divorced.

Investigators are still conducting interviews with friends and family members and awaiting autopsy results.
