An employee at a Chicago wellness spa was attacked and critically injured by a patron as the business was closing on Wednesday night.

Chicago police said the 35-year-old woman was fighting for her life at Mount Sinai Hospital with stab wounds to the neck and wrists, WLS reported.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. at Body Health Center in the southwestern Brighton Park neighborhood, which offers a variety of spa treatments, investigators said.

Detectives aren’t clear how the stabbing came about, but said it took place during some type of altercation between the employee and a man. The woman was stabbed multiple times.

Investigators were still on the scene early Thursday, and no one was in custody.
