Mom Leaves Children Home Alone for Months, Posts on Social Media While Investigators Hunt for Her

Texas investigators are working with police in Alabama to find a mother accused of abandoning her two young children alone for nearly two months.

Raven Yates, 31, says she is a “Mommy CEO,” recording artist, model, and actress on her social media accounts, where she has been regularly posting since she allegedly left her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son alone at their Roman Forest home in September. The children were found in deplorable conditions in December, KTRK reports.

“No food in the house; everything was empty,” Roman Forest Chief Stephen Carlisle said. “There were some dry beans and spices. That was it.”

“A 12-year-old cannot take care of a 3-year-old for a long period of time, especially over a month and a half,” Carlisle said. “It’s dangerous and irresponsible of a parent. Without medical supplies or ways to get food, that’s very dangerous.”

Investigators said the two children have different fathers and that Yates told her daughter that her father would take her and leave the toddler alone if she told anyone about their circumstances. So the girl would tell her father, a music producer in California, that her mother was working, and he would order food to be sent to the house.

Investigators said family members spotted Yates in Mobile, Alabama — her home town — without the children and contacted the girl’s father. He flew to Texas and contacted police, Carlisle said. Yates and the children moved to Texas about a year ago, he said, and neither the 12-year-old or a 14-year-old daughter, who was previously reported as a runaway, were ever enrolled in school in Texas.

Warrants have been issued for Yates’ arrest on charges of abandoning or endangering a child without intent to return. Roman Forest investigators are working with Mobile police to locate and arrest her.

Investigators said all three children have been reunited with a family member, police said.
