Authorities Investigate Body Found in Missing Woman’s Car in Casino Parking Lot

Update February 16, 2023: Authorities confirmed the body found in a car at a Louisiana truck stop was that of Sheila Baker. They said foul play is not suspected, according to WBRZ.

Original story:

A body found in a car at a Louisiana truck stop on Sunday appears to be linked to woman reported missing nearly two months ago.

Sheila Baker, 55, was last seen by her family on December 25, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said. Later in the day, her white Toyota Yarish was seen near Alexandria, Louisiana, and may also have been near Bunkie.

That car was found found at about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Super Lucky Louie’s truck stop and casino in Port Allen, more than 100 miles from where Baker was last seen, WBRZ reported.

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle was Baker’s, but the body found inside has not yet been positively identified.

Authorities provided no further information.

Agencies in both parishes are investigating. Anyone with information is urged to contact law enforcement at 225-343-9234.
