Update: Cops Seeking ‘Persons of Interest’ in Deadly Memphis Shooting

Update: 4 p.m.: Memphis police released images of three people they say are “persons of interest” in a deadly shooting overnight in the Tennessee city.

One person was killed in the shooting and 10 more wounded, five of them critically. The five non-critical victims were later released from the hospital, police said.

Along with the three people, investigators released images of three vehicles they believe are associated with the persons of interest. They also said one of them, #3, may have been wounded in the shooting.

Original story:

At least one person is dead and 10 others were wounded in what authorities say was a mass shooting overnight spanning two scenes in Tennessee, WREG-TV reports.

Five of the injured were in critical condition as of Sunday morning.

At 12:43 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the Live Lounge club, 1482 East Shelby Drive in the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, where they found two shooting victims. Those victims were rushed to Regional One Hospital and are in critical condition, the Memphis Police Department said.

Investigators determined that five more shooting victims had fled the scene and used private vehicles to get to area hospitals, where the victims were in “non-critical condition,” according to Fox News.

Police subsequently received information about more shooting victims at a nearby address by Shelby Drive and Boeingshire Drive, where a male victim was found and pronounced dead, CNN reports.

Three more victims were later rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

Early Sunday, authorities were still working to develop concrete information about the suspect or suspects, according to a Twitter post by the Memphis Police Department. It is not clear whether the victims were specifically targeted or were known to the perpetrator, nor is it known what happened leading up to the gunfire.

Police have not released the ages and genders of the surviving victims.

There have been more than 75 mass shootings so far in 2023, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive.
