3 Dead, Including Young Girl, Shot Dead in Quiet Suburb

Three people, including a young girl, were shot to death and a fourth person wounded in their home Sunday night in suburban Chicago.

Bolingbrook Police said they were alerted to the shooting shortly after 8 p.m. and found a man, a woman, and a girl dead at the scene. Another woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, told WLS that her son was playing a video game with the girl who was killed at the time of the shooting.

“My son was playing a game, and then he ran in the room, and was like, ‘Mom, I think something happened’ to his friend. I said, ‘why would you say that?’ He said he was playing the game, and then he heard gunshots go out, and then he didn’t hear his friend anymore,” she said.

Another neighbor, Ryan Hedberg, said he heard the gunshots.

“Came home from dropping off my kids, and got inside and heard two gunshots,” he said. “There was apparently more, but that’s what we heard when we were sitting inside.”

Police said later that they had “located and detained a suspect” but provided no further information. They also said that the initial call about the shooting came in as a “possible home invasion,” but they have not clarified what led up to the shooting.

Police have not provided names and ages of the victims or the suspect.
