Elderly Nebraska Couple, Missing 2 Months, Found Dead on Rural Road

An elderly Nebraska couple who disappeared two months ago after a hospital visit have been found dead.

Robert, 89, and Loveda, 92, Proctor drove from their home in Aurora to the Veterans Administration hospital in Grand Island on January 11, setting off shortly after 4 p.m., as CrimeOnline previously reported. After stopping at the  hospital, Loveda began driving them home after dark. They were seen on video just after 8 p.m. and reportedly stopped at a home in Gitner at about 10 p.m. to ask directions back to Aurora.

The Proctors’ granddaughter, Laci Fleming, told CrimeOnline that she and her husband had traced their movements as best they could to no avail.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said it was contacted by a citizen at about 3:15 p.m. about a stuck vehicle on a minimum maintenance road near Kearney, in a rural area known for its nearly identical square patches of farmland some 60 miles from Aurora and in the opposite direction from Grand Island.

Deputies located the vehicle and identified it as the blue, 2007 Chrysler Pacifica belonging to the Proctors. They found two adults in deceased nearby and preliminarily identified them as the Proctors.

“Foul play is not suspected,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Autopsies have been ordered by the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.”
