Alabama Mom Stabs to Death 8-Year-Old Son, Wounds Her Father: Cops

Deputies in Alabama have arrested a 41-year-old woman for the stabbing death of her 8-year-old son.

The sheriff’s office said it was called to the scene in Hartselle at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday and found the boy dead and a man suffering from a stab wound. The man was treated at the scene and then flown to Huntsville Hospital for further treatment.

Deputies arrested Nicole Long, charging her with capital murder. Other charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.

Court documents reveal that the man who was stabbed is Long’s father, AL.com reports. Officers encountered him when they arrived, and he told them his daughter had stabbed him and that he feared she would harm his grandson upstairs.

Long was coming downstairs when the officers reached the staircase, and she told them the boy was dead. Both the man and the boy were stabbed multiple times.

Police did not release the names of the victims, but Morgan County Schools Superintendent Tracie Turrentine released a statement noting that one of their students had died and that “support services are available to those who need them.”

Long has been booked into the Morgan County Jail without bond, the sheriff’s office said.
