FBI Offers Reward in Hunt for Mexican-American Citizen Kidnapped in Mexico

The FBI has offered a reward of up to $20,000 to find a woman with dual US-Mexican citizenship who is believed to have been kidnapped from her home in Mexico last month.

Maria del Carmen Lopez, 63, is described as 5 feet 2 inches and about 160 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes, the FBI said. Her eyeliner is tattooed.

Lopez was kidnapped from her home in Pueblo Nuevo in Mexico’s Colima state on February 9. The FBI did not share further information about the kidnapping but said it was investigating with Mexican authorities.

The FBI said Lopez is an American citizen, and the Colima Attorney General’s Office said she also holds Mexican citizenship, CNN reported.

The network said that Colima authorities opened its investigation on the day Lopez disappeared, and that the Mexican Attorney General’s Specialized Prosecutor for Organized Crime has since asked to take the case.
