Body Camera Footage Shows Officers Take Down Nashville School Shooter

Nashville police released body camera footage from the two officers who took down a school shooter on Monday, video that shows the careful and dramatic search of the building until the team hears gunshots coming from a floor above them.

Police said Officers Rex Englebert and Michael Collazo were the officers who shot and killed Audrey Hale less than 15 minutes after 911 calls began coming in. Hale gunned down a custodian, a substitute teacher, the school’s headmaster, and three 9-year-olds before police arrived on the second floor.

Hale had been shooting out a window at arriving police cars, Metro Nashville police said. Body camera footage from Englebert and Collazo show the police team enter the building and begin systematically searching for the shooter. They abandon the first floor search when gunshots ring out and head up a stairway.
