2 Charged With Murder of Man Missing Since December, More Arrests Expected

Investigators have arrested two people for the murder of a missing man from Hinds County found dead on the Mississippi coast on Monday.

Cody Smith, 24, was reported missing in Hinds County in December. In late March, investigators learned that Smith was last seen further south, in Harrison County, and contacted the sheriff’s department there, according to WLBT.

Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said their detectives conducted several interviews related to the case and were eventually led to a wooded are in Pass Christian, where they found remains believed to belong to Smith.

They have charged Angel Pierce, 19, and Jerry Parkman, 24, with first degree murder. Pierce was arrested at her home, and Parkman was served at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held on an unrelated charged.

Pierce and Parkman are being held without bond, WLOX reported.

Investigators say they expect more arrests. No further information was released.
