Pennsylvania Sex Offender Charged With Rape and Murder of 70-Year-Old Woman on Bike Trail

A Pennsylvania man has been charged with rape and murder in the assault and death of a 70-year-old woman who was found dead along a bike trail last month.

Marcy Suzette Nellis went missing while out on a routine walk on March 27. Her body was found later that day, WTAE reported, and an autopsy determined she died of strangulation and had been sexually assaulted.

Venango County District Attorney Shawn White announced Thursday that David Allen Bosley, 59, had been arrested and charged with homicide, rape by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault, kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse.

White said that DNA from a rape kit linked Bosley, who lived less than a quarter mile from Nellis, to the crimes.

Bosley was placed on the state’s sex offender registry after he was convicted of attempted rape and aggravated indecent assault in 2000.

He is currently being held without bond in the Venango County Prison pending a preliminary hearing on April 19.
