Body Found in Quarry Amid Search for 10-Year-Old Autistic Girl

A body found in a quarry on Sunday is believed to be a 10-year-old Maryland girl who vanished a day earlier.

WABC reported that Maddelynn Wallace, who was autistic and nonverbal, was last seen near her home in Turner. Charles County police said in a Facebook post that a body was found in a “deep, water-filled quarry” in the viciny where Wallace disappeared.

Foul play is not suspected in this case. Crews had searched wooded areas — including bodies of water– for Wallace before the discovery was made.

Charles County police said, “The Medical Examiners Office will confirm the identity and we will provide an update once available. Officers and detectives are continuing to investigate.”
