‘Cult Mom’ Trial: Court Shown Photos of Dead Tammy With Pink Foam Coming From Mouth

Idaho prosecutors showed the court photos of Tammy Daybell on Friday after she was allegedly killed in October 2019 by her husband, Chad Daybell, and his soon-to-be wife, Lori Vallow Daybell.

According to East Idaho News, the photos showed Tammy Daybell on a bed and under a comforter with pink foam coming out of her mouth. Rexburg police officer Alyssa Greenhalgh, who responded to the death scene, testified that she never arrived at another scene where the decedent had pink foam coming from their mouth.

“She had some reddish pink foam on her mouth that was running down her cheek,” she testified, noting that she also had a small bruise on her arm.

Tammy Daybell’s sister, Samantha Gwilliam, testified that she never mentioned feeling ill when she visited her two weeks before her death. She also claimed that Chad Daybell stopped coming around her family after he remarried.

Daybell married Vallow Daybell after her two children, J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan, vanished in September 2019.

“He wouldn’t even tell my parents he got remarried. He made his daughter call my mom,” Gwilliam said, according to East Idaho News.

Tammy Daybell’s initial cause of death was pulmonary edema and the manner was listed as natural. However, coroner Brenda Dye said testified that she would change her cause of death to asphyxiation and her manner of death to homicide. The cause and manner of death are currently pending.

Vallow Daybell and Daybell are charged with killing Tammy Daybell, Tylee, and J.J. Vallow Daybell is currently standing trial, and Daybell will be tried at a later date.

Tylee and J.J. were missing for nine months before their remains were found on Daybell’s property in June 2020. J.J.’s body was reportedly found in a plastic bag that was wrapped in plastic. His face, arms, wrists, and feet were wrapped with duct tape. Tylee’s burned remains were on the property, though her entire body was not intact.

During Wednesday’s testimony, it was revealed that J.J. was suffocated with a plastic bag and duct tape. Due to the condition of Tylee’s remains, her cause of death was undetermined.

Vallow Daybell has said she was with Melanie Gibb, David Warwick, or her husband when her son and daughter died in her brother’s apartment in Rexburg, Idaho. She allegedly said she was at her residence, also in Rexburg.

She claimed she was in Hawaii when Tammy Daybell was killed at her husband’s home in Salem, Idaho. She stated she was with two other people at the time.

The defendant — who is believed to have been involved in a so-called doomsday cult — allegedly told a friend that her children had become zombies and the only way to exorcise their bodies of evil spirits was to kill them.

In Arizona, Vallow Daybell is charged in connection with the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. Her brother, Alex Cox, fatally shot Charles in July 2019, months before Tammy Daybell’s death and J.J. and Tylee’s disappearances. Cox died, reportedly of natural causes, in December 2019.

Vallow Daybell, who is not facing the death penalty, underwent psychiatric treatment twice before she was deemed fit to stand trial in Idaho. Cameras are not allowed in the courtroom per a court order.

The trial continues.
