South Dakota Mother Found Dead; Family Believes It’s a Domestic Murder

A South Dakota woman was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday, and investigators say they’re now looking into a “suspicious death.”

Family and friends identified the woman as 23-year-old Jordan Beardshear, mother of a 1-year-old son. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said in a statement that “a young child was found safe by law enforcement” but provided no further details, KTIV reported.

Union County investigators, along with the state Division of Criminal Investigation, have not revealed how Beardshear died, but her family believes she was the victim of domestic violence.

“So my message is, if you see something, say something, preventive, you know, being preventative about this is about the only way you can stop it,” said Shane Christiansen, her father.

Christiansen told KTIV his grandson is safe with family.

Authorities say they will release more information as it becomes available.
