Suspect Jailed in Alabama for Cinco de Mayo Shooting in Mississippi

Alabama authorities have arrested a man suspected of opening fire at a Mississippi Cinco de Mayo celebration Friday night, killing a 19-year-old man and wounding six others.

Fadarius Davon Williams is being held in the Mobile County Jail awaiting extradition, WLOX reported.

The incident took place at about 11 p.m. at The Scratch Kitchen in Ocean Springs, police said. Witnesses reported the suspect ran past security and into the busy restaurant and bar and opened fire.

Chayse Harmon was killed in the shooting. The six people wounded were not seriously hurt.

Police initially released surveillance photos of a person of interest but later said they’d spoken with the man and ruled him out as a suspect.

Williams will be charged with first degree murder when he’s returned to Mississippi. Investigators have not yet revealed a motive in the shooting.

Ocean Springs Police ask for anyone with information to call investigators at 228-875-221 or leave an anonymous tip with Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers by calling at (877) 787-5898.
