Mom Reported Missing on Mother’s Day Found Dead By New Jersey Highway

A body found dumped beside a busy New Jersey highway early Wednesday has been identified as a 32-year-old mother of two reported missing on Sunday.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said that Norelis Mendoza was last seen at her mother’s home at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, NJ.com reported.

Mendoza lived in Lindenwold in Camden County but had ties to Hudson County, the prosecutor said.

Suarez said Mendoza’s body was found by a joint effort of the Jersey City and Bayonne police departments and the New Jersey State Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene, but the medical examiner will determine how long she had been there was well as a cause of death.

For now, the death has been ruled suspicious.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were seen Tuesday afternoon in Bayonne search large garbage containers. Investigators said the search was related to Mendoza’s disappearance.

Mendoza was the mother of a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, family told WABC.
