Sex Offender With Pending Rape Charge Kidnapped Pregnant Teen Before Killing Her

A sex offender from Alabama is facing additional charges in connection with the death of a pregnant Florida woman who was found fatally shot this month.

Anastasia Gilley, 19, was found dead in Dothan, Alabama, on May 10, a week after she was last seen at her home in Greenwood, Florida, as CrimeOnline previously reported. AL.com reported that Gilley was four months pregnant, and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza described her alleged killer, Marquis McCloud, 33, as an acquaintance who held Gilley against her will.

On Wednesday, Valenza said that McCloud “turned, at one point, very aggressive” to Gilley.

AL.com reported that Gilley’s phone, purse, and personal belongings were found at her home.

McCloud is expected to be charged with an additional count of capital murder for the death of Gilley’s unborn child.

The decomposed remains found earlier this month have not been identified as Gilley, but Valenza said he is confident it is her based on items found on the body. Investigators believe Gilley had been dead since at least May 5.
