Teen Girl Saves Younger Sibling From Mom who Drowned Their 6-Year-Old Sister

A South Carolina woman allegedly drowned her 6-year-old daughter on Friday before trying to do the same to her 8-year-old child.

Beaufort County police responded to reports that a woman was trying to drown her child at a home on St. Helena Island. Responding officers discovered Mackaya Brun’s body and detained her mother, Jamie Michelle Bradley Brun, 37, according to WJCL.

Bradley Brun is believed to have drowned her daughter and tried to also drown her older son. However, the boy’s cries apparently woke up his 16-year-old sister, who rescued him and called 911.

WTOC reported that the Bradley Brun’s teen daughter had taken her son to a family residence located nearby.

Bradley-Brun remains jailed on charges of murder and attempted murder. An autopsy has been performed on the deceased girl.
