‘Unfortunate Incident’: Infant Dies in Hot Car as Parents Attend Church

An infant girl died in Florida on Sunday after her parents allegedly left her in a car for about three hours.

According to WESH, police responded to Mount of Olives Evangelical Baptist Church in Palm Bay amid reports of an unresponsive baby. The baby was transported to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead.

WESH reported that the baby was left in the car as her parents attended church. Officials have not publicly named the deceased girl.

“This is an unfortunate incident, and our condolences and prayers go out to the family,” Palm Bay Police Chief Mario Augello said.

According to No Heat Stroke, the 11-month-old girl is the sixth child to die in a hot car this year. In 2022, 33 children died of vehicular heatstroke.
