‘Inventing Anna’: Fake Heiress Con Artist Under House Arrest Gets New Look, Sued By Former Lawyer for $152K

Anna Sorokin, the German con artist who inspired the Netflix show “Inventing Anna,” is virtually unrecognizable in new photos promoting her podcast, the Daily Mail reports.

The images show Sorokin, 32, with blonde highlights and fuller lips compared to previous images of her last year in court.

Sorokin’s appearance is particularly striking given that she is under house arrest. She was convicted in 2019 of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars after pretending to be a wealthy heiress named “Anna Delvey.”

A judge had sentenced Sorokin to four to 12 years in prison, but she was released last year for good behavior.

Six weeks later, immigration authorities detained Sorokin for overstaying her visa. She was released on bond and is awaiting the court’s decision under house arrest.

Guests of the podcast, recorded in her East Village apartment in New York City, have reportedly included Julia Fox, Emily Ratajkowski, and Whitney Cummings, according to DailyMail.

Meanwhile, Sorokin is also being sued by a former attorney to collect $152,000 in allegedly unpaid legal fees, according to People magazine.

After the relationship went south, Sorokin claimed that the lawyer, Audrey A. Thomas, failed to share audio recordings of her immigration court hearings. A judge ordered Thomas to turn those records over to Sorokin.

Thomas has alleged that Sorokin has made false claims about her in an effort to escape the “astronomical legal fees,” although the nature of those claims was not made public on Tuesday, Insider reports.

The lawyer, who was disbarred in November for allegedly stealing money from a client, reportedly told the Daily Mail that Sorokin “can kiss my a**,” according to the news outlet.
