Madeline Kingsbury: Remains Confirmed to Be Those of Missing Minnesota Mom

Human remains found Wednesday on a remote road near Mabel, Minnesota, have been identified as those of Madeline Kingsbury, a mother of two who disappeared in late March.

Her ex-boyfriend and the father of the children, 29-year-old Adam Fravel, was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of murder, as CrimeOnline reported.

Kingsbury, 26, was last seen March 31 after dropping off her young children at a daycare in Winona, about an hour north of where her body was found. She did not show up for work at her job at the Mayo Clinic later that day.

Fravel, who still lived at Kingsbury’s home even though they’d broken up, told police he left the home in Kingsbury’s minivan at about 10 a.m., and she was gone when he returned.

Winona police said that the remains were found in brush off Highway 43 by a Fillmore County investigator “using information generated during the Madeline Kingsbury investigation.”

Winona Police Chief Tom Williams said at a news conference that an autopsy “confirmed that the remains were those of Madeline Kingsbury. ”

“To say the least the last 69 days have been frustrating, full of heartache and pain for the family, law enforcement and the community. During this time the family never gave up, law enforcement never gave up, the community never gave up,” Williams said.

Kingsbury’s sister, Megan Kingsbury, released a statement on behalf of the family, KTTC reported:

“We’re relieved that Madeline has been found after months of intensive searching and grateful for the extraordinary efforts by law enforcement, other first responders and volunteers. We’re certain that the correct person has been arrested, will be appropriately charged, and convicted of his crimes. Things are moving in the right direction there and we look forward to getting justice for Madeline. For right now we will mourn as a family and properly and respectfully lay her to rest.”

Fravel, who has previously denied responsibility for Kingsbury’s disappearance, is being held without bond pending a hearing.
