5-Year-Old Boy, Grandmother Killed by Alleged Wrong-Way Drunk Driver

A 5-year-old boy and his grandmother were killed last week when a driver crossed the center line and hit their car.

Investigators said the driver, who was identified only as a man in his 30s, was allegedly driving under the influence.

Aura de la Cruz Calderon de Tobar, 74, and Yeshua Elijah Cordova Tobar were on their way to dinner at about 9 p.m. on June 29 with the boy’s stepsister and her boyfriend when the crash happened in Van Nuys, KTLA said. The boy and his grandmother, who was visiting from El Salvador, were in the back seat.

“I’m still asking to God what happened,” the boy’s father, Roldan Cordova, told KABC. “I lost my life. My life is gone with him.”

“I can’t see my life without him,” the boy’s mother, Anna Calderon, said.
