Found Safe: NC 15-Year-Old Believed to Be With Woman Headed Toward Alabama

Update: A 15-year-old girl missing from North Carolina and believed to be with a woman heading toward Alabama was found safe late Saturday in Newnan, Georgia.

North Carolina authorities canceled an Amber Alert that had been issued for Jocelyn Jacobs, WRAL reported.

Maria Gunn, 37, of Opelika, Alabama, was taken into custody in Opelike, Alabama, and is being held at the Lee County Detention Center pending an extradition hearing.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 15-year-old girl missing in North Carolina.

Jocelyn Jacobs is believed to be with Maria M. Gunn, 37, in a white Ford Explorer with an Alabama license number 7252BK1, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

The center said the “suspect left driving towards Alabama.”

Jacobs is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 135 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt and blue sweatpants with the word “PINK” down the left leg.

Gunn has brown hair and eyes and occasionally wears glasses, the center said.
