‘Many red flags were missed’: Nancy Grace Believes Accused Long Island Serial Killer Murdered Victims in ‘Secret’ Room in Home

“Crime Stories” host Nancy Grace speculated about what led up to an arrest in the Gilgo Beach slayings.

Grace told Fox that she has “no doubt in my mind” that suspected serial killer Rex Heuermann, 59, has more victims. Heuermann was arrested on Thursday in Manhattan for the 2009 and 2010 murders of three women at Gilgo Beach on Long Island — where investigators found, in total, the bodies of nine women, a man, and a toddler.

Heuermann is charged with killing Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello, and reports indicated that he is the prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

“You do the same thing over, and over, and over, why stop?” Grace commented.

Grace urged law enforcement to “dismantle” Heuermann’s home “down to the screws” as he was also accused of viewing child pornography.

“We’re just learning that he had a secret, underground room down in the basement,” she alleged.

“About a 12 by 15 room…I think it is entirely possible at least three of his victims were killed in that home. Why do I say that? Because three of the victims were killed while his wife and children were gone out of state.”

Authorities alleged that three hairs from Heuermann’s wife were found on or near the three victims. Grace told Fox that it further supports her theory that Heuermann carried out the slayings in his home.

“Many red flags were missed,” she stated. “A witness saw Amber Costello, one of the original victims, with a guy that matches Heuermann’s description…and his Chevy Avalanche, which I’d like to point out, discontinued manufacture in 2013.”

Heuermann is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder. On Sunday, police executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Amityville which may be linked to this case.
