California Ice Cream Man Robbed for 3rd Time in a Week

An elderly ice cream vendor was robbed on Monday for the third time in a week — and the eighth time in the past decade — leaving him unable to pay his own living expenses or send money back to Peru where his son lives with autism.

KNTV reported that the latest armed robbery was caught on video by someone who didn’t try to help the man known in his community as Don Juan, 80. He asked the station not to use his full name because he is “scared.”

The harrowing video shows two men jump out of a vehicle and shake Juan down for $120. A third man briefly steps out of the vehicle before all three speed off with the cash.

Don Juan said he was too scared to go back out and sell the ice cream he had left.

Oakland Police said they are investigating the case but have no suspects as yet.

A GoFundMe has raised more than $15,000 to help Juan.
