Missing Witness Found Dead in Barrel Similar to Those Filmed at Dog-Collar Kidnapper’s Home

Last week, Missouri authorities confirmed that human remains discovered in a barrel in June belong to a woman that is a potential witness in an ongoing kidnapping investigation.

Excelsior Springs police Chief Gregory Dull told KMBC that Jaynie Crosdale was the deceased woman found along the Missouri River in Saline County on June 24. The barrel Crosdale was found in reportedly matched those the news station filmed outside Timothy Haslett Jr.’s home in Excelsior Springs in October 2022 — the same month a woman allegedly escaped from his house and claimed she was beaten, bound, and raped.

The kidnapping victim — who was forced to wear a dog collar — told police that she escaped while Haslett took his child to school. The woman said at the time that there were other victims, but police never found them, according to WDAF.

Excelsior police previously said that they were looking for Crosdale as they believed she was in Haslett’s home before his arrest. However, Dull told KMBC that he does not believe the two women knew each other or saw each other last year.

Dull explained that they were seeking Crosdale as they investigated Haslett for a separate rape and kidnapping.

“We didn’t have anything that we could say she was a victim, but we knew they [she and Haslett] had contact,”  he said.

Dull told KMBC that the barrels look “very similar,” but authorities have not said how Crosdale died.

The remains were confirmed as Crosdale’s on July 30 — the same day prosecutors filed a motion to increase Haslett’s bond. The judge denied the motion, ruling that his current bond of $3 million is apt. He is due in court on October 9.
