Cops Inspect Barrels in River After Finding Kidnapping Witness’ Body in Similar Blue Barrel

The investigation continues into the death of a woman who was found in a barrel in June — months after Missouri police said they were looking for her in regard to another kidnapping case.

On June 24, kayakers found Jaynie Crosdale in a barrel along the Missouri River in Saline County. The remains were confirmed as Crosdale on June 30, and this week, Clay County prosecutors and state police searched the river to familiarize themselves with the area, according to KHSB.

The barrel Crosdale was found in reportedly matched those local news station KMBC filmed outside Timothy Haslett Jr.’s home in Excelsior Springs in October 2022 — the same month a woman allegedly escaped from his house and claimed she was beaten, bound, and raped.

According to reports, the kidnapping victim had duct tape on her mouth, and was wearing a padlocked metal collar and latex lingerie. She told police that she escaped while Haslett took his child to school. She also claimed that there were other victims, but police never found them.

In January, Excelsior police said they were looking for Crosdale as they believed she was in Haslett’s home before his arrest. However, officials said they do not believe the kidnapping victim Crosdale knew each other or saw each other last year.

At the time, officials were reportedly seeking Crosdale as they investigated Haslett for a separate rape and kidnapping.

KHSB reported that police are investigating whether the barrel Crosdale’s body was found in matches evidence from Haslett’s home. A source told the news outlet that they spotted a similar barrel floating in Dover — but police said they already investigated it.

This week, prosecutors filed a motion to increase Haslett’s bond. The judge denied the motion, ruling that his current bond of $3 million is apt. He is due in court on October 9.
